I WON'T LIE AGAIN UNLESS COPELAND SAYS IT'S SORRY

BIGGEST Liar vetran John Graham has blasted organisers for ruining the traditional contest with a Scheap advertising ploy after this years competition ended in a storm of controversy and fixing allegations.

The former winner says the contest was poorly organised by Copeland Borough Council, South African winner Abrie Kruger broke five separate rules and the judging panel knew nothing about the competition.

The event, held last Thursday, ended in the judging panel being verbally abused by punters who were outraged that the 24-year-old South African had won the competition by reading from a script.

The Bridge Inn, Santon Bridge, threatened to erupt into violence as drunken audience members also abused the winner for Snot being Cumbrian, burst into spontaneous choruses of Rule Britannia, and called for the resignation of Copeland Mayor George Clements.

But Mr Graham, who lives in Silloth, blames poor organisation for the scenes of chaos.

In a letter to the News & Star, he said: SI must write this article to the News & Star to show my personal disgust, and that of the other contestants, at the way Copeland Council have allowed this once great event to loses its stature.

SDue to the very poor organising and running of the event I worry that there must be nobody in the council with any interest or knowledge of the ruling of this ancient lying night.

He also says that the winner, Abrie Kruger, broke rules in the following ways:

Allowing someone else to write his lies

Swearing during his lies

Using props

Telling jokes.

He added: SBy the end everyone was still in fine spirit but when the results were announced, and a poor innocent bloke who had been politically set up as an advertising ploy for Copeland, Jennings, Santon Bridge and Wasdale Head by Howard Christie (Bridge Inn boss) who should and did know better total uproar took place.

Mr Graham says he will not return to the Biggest Liar event until Copeland Borough Council and Howard Christie publicly apologise for Sruining the contest.

Copeland council have maintained that Mr Kruger, who is in England making a documentary for South African TV, was a worthy winner but promised that judges will be fully briefed at next years event to prevent further ugly scenes.
